This Week from the Haven

Happy Thursday Reader!

Have you seen the new Verizon Wireless commercial about satellite connectivity? It shows a character in impossible places texting, “Can you read me now?”—only to end with the classic Verizon man from the 2000s saying, “Can you hear me now?”

It’s a fun throwback, but to us, it also carries a deeper truth: just like a satellite connection can reach even the most remote locations, God’s love can penetrate any heart, anywhere. No matter how distant or disconnected we may feel, His voice is always reaching out to us.

And just as we want to stay connected to God, we also need to stay connected in our relationships—especially through active listening. When we truly listen, we don’t just hear words; we understand hearts.

Here are three key benefits of active listening in your marriage:

  1. It builds trust. When your spouse feels truly heard, it deepens emotional security.
  2. It prevents misunderstandings. Many conflicts arise not from disagreement, but from feeling unheard.
  3. It strengthens intimacy. Listening with intention fosters deeper emotional and spiritual connection.

We just released Episode 89 of the Home to Haven Podcast, where we dive deeper into this topic. You can watch it now on YouTube or listen on all podcast platforms. 🎧

As you go about your day, remember this: Don’t just speak to be heard—listen to understand. That’s where real connection begins.
